One of the first things you’ll notice at Union Martial Arts is our welcoming environment. All members of our academy, including instructors, parents and students always make sure you feel a part of our martial arts family, encouraged to train and have fun! We have been fortunate to attract positivity which has helped create an environment that’s safe, enjoyable and ego free.
02 BEGINNER FRIENDLY
We are an established academy and don't ever expect you to have experience in martial arts. Which has lead us to provide a home suitable for all people new to martial arts and fitness. We take pride in being able to breakdown every technique in a way that all levels of experience can understand and enjoy!
03 NOT TO MENTION.. WOMEN FRIENDLY!
One of the biggest reasons females are scared to join co-ed martial arts classes is the pressure of training uncomfortably. Fear not! Our members are filled with respectful and caring members of all shapes and sizes, with instructors to watch over classes respectively. Everyone is here to have fun and train so we make sure women are no different!
04 WORLD CLASS INSTRUCTORS
We are not an academy of masters that will not lift a finger due to pride. We are an energetic group of passionate leaders that are ALWAYS hands on while teaching. We believe the best instructors will always partner up with students and are not afraid to train with them. Always putting the students first, it's our way of best gauging the progress of every student while building the foundation of trust that is crucial in martial arts.
05 PRIME FACILITY
This is martial arts! Which means you need space! We have plenty of room for students to train freely and parents to watch. We also have a smooth floor plan to make sure everyone can come in, get changed and use the washroom without disrupting any on going classes or bumping into one another. We are an elite facility with capped off classes, which means once we've reached the capacity of our mat space - we close off the class. This is to ensure each student gets the optimal experience.
06 STRUCTURED CURRICULUM
We believe in building blocks and so we teach a curriculum that you build on. When students are in classes that have different levels of members, sometimes an instructor can get carried away with teaching too much or too complicated material. Whatever students learn will always relate back to the basics and we find that this makes transitioning from beginner to experienced much easier.
07 PERSONAL & SPECIFIC
You are not a number to us, we know every members name, strength, weakness and tendencies. In order to best serve and teach, we as an academy must understand your personality to approach and teach you in the best way possible. We want you to feel comfortable and a part of our family at all times!
08 DIVERSE & AUTHENTIC
We are not a school that offers every type of martial arts on the planet to try to drive members through our door. However, we do cover various aspects in Filipino Martial Arts. We are qualified and knowledgeable in what we do, so we won't ever boast our ranks or belts to hide it. Most importantly, WE DO NOT SELL BELTS! We cover traditional karate, to weapon/self defense oriented training, all the way to a modern approach of combative sport and fitness. Whatever you like, you are sure to fall into one if not more of these categories!
09 LIFE SKILLS BEFORE TROPHIES
A lot of schools pride themselves in training international, national and provincial champions. Our students are always successful, but we teach first and foremost the #1 reason why people look to train in the first place. Discipline! All our members know that a trophy is just for a time and place, but what we learn is the humility and skills to protect and inspire. Martial arts is not a competition, but a way of life.
10 COMMUNITY & CULTURE
Don't mistaken it, we are not a cult. We promote other schools and arts and do our best to work together in building a better community. We run multiple fundraisers and charity drives to show that we care. Not only outside, but inside our academy we build bonds that travel outside the gym. Encouraging one another to be passionate and provide that support that many people love.
